2024 FAIRGOUNDS PROJECTS

In 2024 Buckeye Western joined forces with Hancock County Horse Council to make major improvements to the 4-H Horse Barn on the County Fairgrounds. The 4-H Barn was constructed back in 1968 and needed repairs. The two groups took this project on with the understanding that it would take more than one year to complete.

Here is a list of the first year’s improvements:

• Replace the inside wall panels and floor skirting.
• Take down 60 stall panels and make repairs.
• Level the inside floor with five (5) loads of stone.
• Lay down over 400 stall mats.
• Put stall panels back up.
• Replace two (2) small pull-up doors and one large door.
• Replace old lighting with new LED lights.

In all the two organizations spent over $40,000 on repairs. But more needs to be done and plans are in motion for 2025 and 2026.

Buckeye Western also in 2024 purchased a new Ground Hog Drag for the fairgrounds!
